NCATS Wireless Broadband is now available to all elegible customers in the city of Fremont, Hesperia, White Cloud and Newaygo.

NCATS Wireless Broadband was implemented due to a growing demand for broadband service in Newaygo County. Due to the existing limitations of standard technologies such as DSL or Cable, Wireless Internet has become a community project to offer low latency, high throughput resources to those homes and businesses outside the reach of traditional services.

NCATS is currently offing two types of wireless Internet inthe 2.4Ghz and 900Mhz bands.

2.4Ghz
Wireless Internet eligibility depends on direct line of sight between your location and our service towers.

900Mhz
In select locations, 900Mhz subscribers can recieve service through trees and obstructions within a few miles of the service tower.

NCATS Wireless Broadband

NCATS is pleased to offer the first local high-speed wireless Internet access for Newaygo County.

Wireless Internet uses high frequency radio waves to communcate Internet data between radio devices. Customers require a small Internet radio and antenna installed at their home, which in turn connects to their computer offering always-on, high-speed Internet access. This is not a satellite service and thus not susceptible to weather conditions.

Coverage Area

• White Cloud - Active within viewable range of the sheriff and jail building towers located in downtown White Cloud. No hills or heavy tree cover may obstruct the view from your location to these towers.

• Fremont - Active within viewable range or close proximity of the cell tower and Fremont water tower located on the NC RESA (Formerly ISD) property east of Fremont.

• Newaygo - Active within viewable range of the Newaygo water tower.

• Fremont (coop) - Active within viewable range of the Fremont Coop towers.

• Hesperia - Active within viewable range of the red and white Blue Lakes radio tower immediately south of Hesperia. This is a 600' tower and our antenna is mounted 400' up.

Service Plans

Standard Installation
$200 - Installation + $10/month Hardware Service

Standard installation includes antenna, cabling, and setup of a single computer or router. A wireless internet radio will be supplied by NCATS for a montly service fee of $10 in addition to the choosen Internet service plan. NCATS will assume responsibility for normal wear and tear or equipment malfunction and service radios free of charge.

Full Ownership Installations
$350 - 2.4Ghz Installation + Equipment
$500 - 900Mhz Installation + Equipment

Standard installation includes antenna, cabling, Internet radio, and setup of a single computer or router. The customer is free to cancel at any time without penalty. The wireless internet radio will be the property and responsibility of the customer. Customer will be responsible for any damages and/or malfunctions of their equipment after 30 days of inital purchase.

* NCATS offers full upload and download speed unlike cable and dsl Internet. IP's are firewalled. Speeds can vary by locations and signal strength.

** 3+Mbps is based on average speed tests performed at select locations. Connection speeds will vary by location between 2Mbps and 4Mbps.

Conection sharing beyond the individual or organization purchasing service is strictly prohibited.

Possible Additional Fees
Customer computers must be Ethernet capable. Network cards may be purchased separately or through NCATS at market value.

LAN users will be required to make use of a firewall or cable/dsl router. Equipment may be purchased seperately or customer may request a consultation with NCATS to determine network needs.
